A Keyhole Garden is a raised-bed garden that uses recycled
materials, less water and maintenance, and is a technology
designed specifically for labour-constrained households to
grow nutritious vegetables under poor soil and moisture
conditions. It retains moisture and nourishes the soil,
making it more productive than a conventional garden, even
during dry or cold months. The raised structure also makes
access easier for the chronically ill or elderly. Once built,
the garden requires little maintenance and can produce
food for up to five years before the garden’s organic layer
needs replenishing.
