Mr. Tadius Ndlovu is 70 years old famers, who lives in Bolobelo village, ward 24 in Gwanda district. For years he has had interest in gardening. When the programme was looking for volunteer farmers he gladly volunteered part of his garden to be used as a demonstration site nutrition for the FFS. The FFS nutrition demonstrations  where a tool used to give farmers the opportunity to have hands on experience in growing of eggplant, butternut, onions, watermelons and tomatoes. Nutrition education was combined with farming as a business and good agriculture practices training which included a visit to ART farm field day.

For years the extension officer had tried to persuade him to grow tomatoes and he was not convinced but after the training he put a tomatoe crop, water melons and butternut.

‘’As we learnt and practiced on the volunteered part with other FFS members, I adopted some of the learnt concepts on the remaining part of my garden.  Through the training received I managed to grow butternuts, watermelons, tomatoes using certified seeds on 0.1ha. From the proceeds I  managed to buy one goat. I also consumed some of the produce with my family for nutrition reasons’
