Fencing, welding and metal fabrication course opens up employment for Mushandike youth

Simike Delight is a 27-year-old man who resides in village 15 in Mushandike Irrigation Scheme in Masvingo. Delight was trained in Fencing, Welding and Metal Fabrication practice under the SIRP youth training program at Rio Tinto College.
After attending a vocational youth training at Rio Tinto he managed to get jobs in welding in the community where he earned US$30 per month. One of the jobs included welding and metal fabrication at a local bar where he installed bars at the counter in the shop. Mr Simike stated that his living standards were gradually improving after his acquisition of skills at Rio Tinto Agricultural College. He used the money earned from the jobs to supplement the family’s food requirements and to meet the needs of his family.
